Towards a Multi-stakeholder Assessment of Atal Bhujal Yojana: Anchoring Integrated Water Resource Management through the Participatory Groundwater Conservation and Management in Uttar Pradesh.

The Multi-stakeholder Assessment of Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABY) was undertaken with a view to assess the water scarcity issues in the lens of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach and suggest measures for proper implementation of ABY in one of the Gram Panchayat (GP) Mau Girwaan, Banda District, Uttar Pradesh.

Participatory groundwater management to address water scarcity due to climate variability

This Project implemented in 5 villages of Fulambri Block of Aurangabad District, Maharashtra State in 2023 aimed to strengthen the Village Water Management Committees (VWMCs) formed in 2022 to undertake the role of water governance; to capacitate youth to anchor and steer the water stewardship processes; and, to plan and implement scientific adaptation measures, including water augmentation and groundwater recharge, based on assessment of aquifer and its characteristics.

The activities carried out were; Training to farmers through Farmers Field Schools (FFSs) for water saving in agriculture; Demonstration of Climate Smart Agricultural technologies to farmers; Assessment of aquifer characteristics and delineation with hydrogeological surveys in five project villages; Hands-on training of VWMCs for their capacity building on water management planning; and, Planning done for formulating comprehensive water management plans, including water augmentation and groundwater recharge in the five project villages…….… Full Report

Report on Fostering meaningful youth engagement for wetlands conservation and management in National Capital Territory of Delhi

This project on ”Fostering meaningful youth engagement for wetlands conservation and management in National Capital Territory of Delhi“  was undertaken by India Water Partnership with the support of Wetland International South Asia. The primary aim of this project was to educate students about wetlands ecological significance, biodiversity, and water management and enhance their understanding of wetland ecosystems and promote their conservation efforts. The project benefitted 312 students of class VIII and X of DPS R K Puram, New Delhi through class room presentations and exposure visit to Hauz Khas Lake. Read more…….… Full Report

Report on Vocational Training Program in Safe Water Enterprises (SWEs) for Grassroots Youth and Women in Telangana

This project report titled “Vocational Training Program in Safe Water Enterprises (SWEs)” for Grassroots Youth and Women in Telangana State” summarizes the initiative undertaken by India Water Partnership (IWP) with the support of Safe Water Network India (SWNI) under the aegis of    Global Water Partnership-South Asia. The project focused on building the capacity of women and youth) in Warangal District, Telangana State in operations and management of water systems, O&M, repair of piped water supply infrastructures as fitter, valve operator, plumber, and electrician, water quality testing using Field Test Kits, entrepreneurship development, and learning soft skills. The project aimed to create social entrepreneurs in safe water enterprises, which can help improve public health through access to safe water. Read more……… Full Report

Report on Grassroot Gender Empowerment in Water Quality testing using Field Test Kits for improved public health_2023

Purpose of this project was to prepare semi-skilled and semi-literate women and youth in water-based skills such as plumbing, water purification, water quality testing and entrepreneurship development in Medak District, Talangana State. Under this Project 50 members of 10 Village Water Sanitation Committees trained to test water quality in their villages using Field Test Kits. 250 School students and 500 community members sensitized on using safe drining water. Report on Participatory groundwater management to address water scarcity due to climate variability

This Project implemented in 5 villages of Fulambri Block of Aurangabad District, Maharashtra State

aimed for local planning with youth and actions for adaptation through awareness and capacity building of communities and organising them into Village Water Management Committees (VWMCs) for water governance.

Under the project 1 Village Water Management Committees was formed in each project village  to manage their water resources.  Comprehensive PRA exercises were conducted in all the 5 project villages.  Trainings were provided to Barefoot Technologists (Youth from villages) on hydrology, water management and soil health. Pre-monsoon water level recording carried out in identified 20 wells across 5 villages. Full Report

Report on Strengthening water resources by improving governance of Panchayat level statutory bodies through active participation of youth

This Project was implemented in 10 villages of Kaij Block, Beed District, Maharashtra State. Purpose of this project was to form youth groups to work with Water Supply & Sanitation Committee (WSSC) and Watershed Development Committee (WDC) for water conservation and management in 10 project villages. Enhancing Capability to Address Climate Change in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Uttarakhand

Objective of this project was to sensitize and build capacities
of officials of water resources and other relevant
departments and institutions of Government of Uttarakhand
to implement and mainstream adaptation actions into
Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM). The
conclusions reflect the ground realities and status of IWRM
in Uttarakhand State. A State level Sensitization Workshop
organized under this project has come-up with some key
recommendations for mainstreaming and effective
implementation of IWRM in the State. Full Report

Water Champions Youth Fellowship Programme-2021

The project supported by IWP and undertaken by Centre for Youth
aimed to build capabilities of youth to develop sustainable water smart solutions to address the water stress issues in India, as youth are considered as the most vibrant and dynamic segment of the country’s population who can play a greater role in sustainable water
management. During the six months fellowship program, 18
University/College students from Delhi NCR were capacitated on the
water themes such as; Access to Safe Drinking Water; Water Security
and Availability; Groundwater Conservation; Rainwater Harvesting
Systems and Water Literacy for Conservation for Integrated Water

Continuing Support to MSP by developing Decision Support System (Operational Dashboard) for Hindon River

This project aimed to provide a single window GIS based solution for Hindon River Basin to a variety of users like students, researchers, decision makers etc. A dashboard developed under this project would assist its users in monitoring, studying and analyzing data trends, patterns and their relationships to arrive at reasonable conclusions and assist in rational decision making for rejuvenation of Hindon River. Regional Consultation on mainstreaming Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Uttar Pradesh

Main objective of the Regional Consultation was to identify key
bottlenecks and opportunities for mainstreaming the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Uttar Pradesh. Experts from seven other States namely; Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand presented their views on the status of IWRM and initiatives on water resources management in their States. Based on the Regional Consultation, the IWP has developed a Status Paper on “Mapping the Policy and Institutional Response to Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM in India – A Case Study of Uttar Pradesh”.
