To foster youth engagement, civil action and mobilize the youth by providing them the wetland
education through learning materials in a pictorial way, a one day Learning Exchange Workshop was
organized by India Water Partnership and Wetland International South Asia on 18 th January, 2023 at
Delhi Public School, R K Puram, New Delhi. Around 300 students and 14 teachers participated in the
learning exchange workshop.
The workshop session was conducted by officials of Wetland International South Asia namely, Mr. Harsh
Ganapathi, Senior Technical Officer (Eco-hydrology); Ms. Diana Dutta, Program Associate, IMWBES; Ms.
Dayadra Mandal, Junior Technical Officer, Water Management supported by Mr. Saadan Hussain, Junior
Technical Officer, Climate Change by engaging students taking the Wetland Mitra Pledge and
highlighting the importance of wetlands, mainly the one wetland near the school i.e, Hauz Khas lake.
The students were also engaged in learning through questions & answers session.
Concluding the workshop, Dr. Veena Khanduri, Executive Secretary-cum-Country Coordinator, India
Water Partnership shared and highlighted that all the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide
an opportunity to signify the importance of wetlands either directly or indirectly. She said that involving
students in wetland conservation will build their commitment to protect their local environment.
