Water Aid has been working in India since 1986 and has played a significant role in the WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) sector nationally and in the states. Its mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to WASH services. It has a goal to "Make WASH poverty a history in the country". To Achieve this, Water Aid engage in the areas with the greatest concentration of excluded and marginalized communities and empower and include them in local decision making, help revive and strengthen the local governance institutions and influence policy at local, state and national to global travels.
