Grass Roots Action for Social Participation, is a voluntary organisation registered under societies registration action 1860 and Bombay Public Act 1950, working for sustainable development of the rural poor through community empowerment and natural resources management with a scientific outlook. The vision and mission of GRASP has involved from long experience of working with poor communities struggling for survival and livelyhood in stress prone ecologies. Its major achievements have been in the area of : 1. participatory environmental resourses management of land, water & Biomass. 2. Increase participation of woment in socio-economic decision-making, 3. micro credit, specially for rural women., 4. joint forest management under the Indo Garment Watershed programme. Grasp has also undertaken research in dry land farming, bio-fertilisers, organic farming & indigenous technology in the brick sector. and additional project has been in the area of capacity building of local youth. This is to enable them to use their knowledge for integrated development.
